Facebook Explore FeedOver the years, it has become increasingly difficult for businesses to get organic views for their posts on Facebook. As the social media giant moved further into paid advertising, non-paid organic posts were pushed further down into a user’s feed. Thus, people stopped seeing a lot of the posts from their friends and businesses they follow. However, the recent release of Facebook’s new Explore Feed may help businesses regain lost organic reach.

Facebook’s Explore Feed

Facebook has been testing the new Explore Feed throughout 2017. It was previously available for mobile users, but it has now been scaled into a full rollout for both mobile devices and desktops.

“We are beginning to roll out a complementary feed of popular articles, videos, and photos, automatically customized for each person based on content that might be interesting to them,” a Facebook spokesperson said, according to TechCrunch. “We’ve heard from people that they want an easy way to explore relevant content from Pages they haven’t connected with yet,”

To find the Explore Feed in the desktop version of Facebook, simply navigate to the left-side sidebar where you’ll see the “Explore” section, and then click on “Explore Feed.” For mobile devices, click on the hamburger icon to open the menu, then click on “Explore Feed.”

Facebook’s Goal

Facebook’s goal in adding the “Explore Feed” is to expose users to more content from across the Internet. This new feed takes you beyond what friends, family, and the pages that you follow are posting. In it, you will find content that Facebook thinks you might enjoy (posts, articles, photos, and videos).

However, it isn’t just random content from all different types of people and pages. The content that Facebook shows you in the Explore Feed is content that is similar to content that you’ve viewed or liked in your normal feed (or is popular in your network of friends).

Although Facebook may hope to monetize the new feed someday, there currently are not any ads featured in the Explore Feed.

However, there is still potential that this could be a plus from a marketing perspective for businesses. If Facebook is able to narrow down its Explore Feed enough to really target people, this could mean increased exposure to a business’ page without having to pay for it.

Use Facebook To Reach Your Target Audience

Although Facebook has emphasized monetization of its website to the point businesses have to advertise on the network to reach consumers, there are still excellent internet marketing opportunities to grow your audience with Facebook.  Currently, we are seeing advertising costs as low as about $0.35 per click, with a very good ROI for businesses.
